nolanMarch 2014 Student of the Month

Vijay Madhavan
Vijay Madhavan is the student of the month for March 2014. Vijay started with AASD in January of 2014. It was so apparent from the beginning that Vijay was destined to do Marital arts with his outstanding work ethic and almost perfect attendance.

Sifu Rick and staff are always amazed at how easy Vijay is able to pick up new material with very little instruction. Vijay is destined to be a part of the Black Belt Club soon, on his way to becoming a true example for all.

Sifu Rick wishes to also salute Vijay’s parents Nachi and Anu, for all their support of Vijay and our Black belt school.

Humility — Noun —

The quality or state of not thinking you are better than other people: the quality or state of being humble.

It’s important to know what humility is and, more importantly, to be humble. Being humble is to be consistent in thinking of others needs and appreciate the good in others. Be proud of what you do and your accomplishments but don’t boast. Just because you are better at an activity than someone else doesn’t mean that you are better than they are. Appreciate each and every person for who they are … a fellow human-being. A person with talents, love and needs just
like you.

What are ways you use your talents and attributes in helping someone in need?

Nutrition (Noun) \ nu̇- ˈtri-shən, nyu̇- \

Definition: The process of eating the right kind of food so you can grow properly and be healthy.

Example: Making healthy choices when eating is essential in your nutrition and martial arts training.

Did You Know?

We need food to fuel our bodies, however not all foods give us the same energy. There are foods which provide energy to think, form our memories, and help us to perform physical activities, while others only slow us down. The key to good nutrition is to eat a variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and grains.
